God and things that are "necessary"!

A trip to Target always seems to bring out the boy in Owen. He insists on looking at practically every car known to man in the "truck aisle". He is promised a trip to this section if he behaves the entire time mommy is gathering the things we are in need of. As I was searching threw the rack of sunglasses Owen whips off his sweatshirt to reveal the most disgustingly dirty, cat hair covered, black shirt I have ever seen. I am sure my face was red with embarrassment. I immediately told him to put his sweatshirt back on. He responds by looking me right in the eye and saying "Mom, is that really necessary?" Of course there was an audience present, like usual. I am sure they all wondered where my child comes up with the things he says. I would have responded to their questions by saying "that is Owen"!

As we were driving home from Target he begins to question me on what I would do with a bad guy. I guess this superhero thing is really getting to him. I asked him what he would do and he responded by saying he would hurt them. I told Owen we never hurt anyone. He then told me God would take care of the bad guys. I instantly agreed. This led into his constant questions about God. Here are a few of the 20 some he asked. What color is God? Does he wear a coat? What color is his coat? Where is he right now? How can he be in the van if I can't see him? How did he get into my heart? Anyone else have children who ask so much? As you can see he has lots of questions. I answered them all to best of my ability, but I fear in another 5 years he may ask me questions I cannot answer! Knowledge is power.

Superheros and Athletes

Let it be known.... Owen's fireman pants (his snow pants) serve more then one purpose. These brown, water-proof, bottoms are also part of his "Superhero" attire. Yes, coupled with a red pair of underwear and nothing else, these superhero pants make him incredible. He showed us precisely how he has fist power, kick power and jumping power. Stay out of this hero's way he is tough. And when it is time to turn back into plain old Owen, he makes a quick switch behind the couch. AMAZING!

Just when you thought Owen was out of ideas another one enters his busy brain. While playing downstairs this afternoon Owen developed a new game he refers to as "Broom Volleyball". He was not specific on the details of his new game but he informed Paul he was not allowed to participate in his "school" activity. Apparently, his entire class was downstairs with him making a mess which he stated "they" needed to clean up.

Popcorn for Dinner

What an exciting week for the Korbel family. Paul's brother, Daniel(AKA Boon) and his wife, Tiann welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world on Wednesday. Tavia Lynn is adored by her big cousin Owen. He couldn't stop telling everyone how "cute" she was. Once Owen had the chance to hold the little baby he gave her all kinds of kisses. I hope this fasination holds true when his baby brother is born in May. Tavia began to give us the sure sign she was ready for dinner and I informed Owen he needed to give the baby back to Tiann so she could feed him. Owen didn't miss a beat when he suggested the popcorn on the shelf behind may cure her hunger. Little did he know that babies do not endulge in his favorite snack. Nonetheless, he provided the family with another good laugh.
