Crafty Caterpillars (Cletis Portraits on Cartons)

Have any of these laying around?

Add the following supplies:

A little concentration....

Do they look like anyone we know??

Cletis the Caterpillar

We have a new member in the Korbel household.

Introducing.....Cletis!

Cletis is a Leafy Spurge Hawk Moth.  We found him on some SPURGE in my garden.

This is his home complete with plenty of spurge to eat.

A few days ago Cletis stopped eating so much and began doing something else.

Come spring (and hoping he survives) he will look like this.....

Searching for the Good

1.  Both my grandmas may be hurt/ill but.........I have gotten to know them as an adult and I have a wonderful amount of memories of them over the years.

2.  Our hospital bills are LARGE but.......I know my husband and son are well now.

3.   The flood may have cost my friends and family time, energy and money but.....it has proved the power of friendship, the length one will go to help someone, and how a "home"  is where ever the people you love most are.

4.  My sister may not have gone to law school due to her health but.......she has been the dedicated rock and organizational champion that has held my family together during the death of my uncle, and the illnesses of my grandmothers.   We could not have gotten this far without her.

5.  My husband may be overworked and tired but......he still makes his family his number one priority.

6.  It may be expensive but....Owen is flourishing in school.

7.   We may not be able to go on fancy vacations to far away lands but.......my parents camper provides us with a small slice of heaven every time we visit.

We have been blessed with health, jobs, a roof over our heads and clothing on our bodies. There is food in our cupboards and toys on our floor.   We are blessed with wonderful and supportive family and friends.  We are really blessed to be just the way we are.

Crafts and Candles

I recently found this easy project in High Five magazine! What you need: Squares of tissue paper,  glass jar, and a battery operated candle.

A little concentration, some sticky fingers and a masterpiece is made!

Even Easton liked this project!

Presto!

They have them going in their room tonight.  We will see if the battery lasts!

I'll Love Them Forever

So I snuck into my boys room tonight and snapped a picture of them sleeping.  There is something so precious about a child who is fast asleep.  They are almost angelic.  It is emotional for me.  I want them to stay little.  I want to snuggle with them, read to them, pray with them and tuck them in forever.  They will grow though, and that is ok for:

I'll love them forever, like them for always, as long as I am living, my babies they'll be.

Welcome Fall!

The trees are turning brilliant hues of red, yellow and orange.  Apple orchards and pumpkin patches are open for business. The air is crisp.  The crock pot is dusted off and simmering soup.  Fall has arrived.  It has been a beautiful week here.  A much needed Mr. Sun has helped dry up last weeks disaster.

Ironically, both my grandmothers celebrated their birthdays on Tuesday. We loaded up the van and drove to Northfield to celebrate with Grandma T once Owen was done with school.  Unfortunately, Grandma F.  has had some major medical issues and she is currently being cared for at a hospital  so we were unable to spend some time with her.  We are requesting prayers for her recovery, her doctors and her future. It will be a long road ahead.  We know God is on our side though and believe he is the ultimate healer.

The weekend has been nice and relaxing thus far.  I made my first apple pie from scratch and judging by the fact there is only one slice left, I am going to say it turned out well.   We enjoy these simple days and wish we could have them more often.

Here are a few fun photos from our week:
